Has anyone ever heard of Mimosa? its a ornamental tree that originated from China. But anyway i cut some up yesterday (just noodling around and was wondering if anyone else has any of it?) Can provide pictures if anyone wants any =]:greenchainsaw:

That's too funny I was just looking into this wood the other day. I chopped 1 down about a year ago and I'm thinking about making some pen blanks for some turners I know. I was wondering if it was toxic and looked on this site about it. It seems that it can cause a reaction in some people so be cautious. If you have some pictures I'd be interested in seeing them.

I have the hardest time remembering the real name of this tree since my father-in-law calls them "side of the road trees". In Va the grown on the side of the road like weeds.

You are putting the picture in the IMG brackets but you are using the location on your hard disc. You need to attach the pictures first or get them online and use the online address in the IMG brackets. Look below the area you type the post in, for the attachment info. It says Manage Attachments, scroll down.

never dealt with a piece big enough to use,but ive seen some calls made out of it. its a pale but boldly grained wood. finnishes nice and is a fairly hard wood.

It grows out here in the desert in people's yards and along the street, etc. I have wondered about cutting some because it looks nearly identical to mesquite. But it grows really fast & is a bit lighter in color so I haven't pursued it. I might if I see a burl or wrinkled trunk large enough to mill. Post pics if you can.
