Mode on 97 F-800

I have a 97 F-800 with the 8L cummings and allison 5 speed auto tranny. On the shift column there is a button which says MODE. When I press the button a light comes on which simply says mode on. What is this? Mode for what? I do not feel any difference while driving with mode on or off.

Mode Button

I have a similar truck and it has a MD Allison transmission. There is a sticker on the back of my sun visor that explains what the different modes are. I forget what they are but they allow different shift points I think. On mine you hit the mode button than you hit another one to change it. If you only hit the mode button, it stays the same. If your sun visor sticker is missing, respond and I will copy mine down. Is yours a MD Allison or a MT or a different model? I bet Ford or Allison can get you a owners manual on that transmission. Hope this helps.

Thanks, tomorrow I will check my visor. I love ford, but as far as getting help here in new orleans, forget it. I may as well go looking for sunken treasure.
