HI. Here's a question or 2 or 3..
Im wondering if doing a New mod to an Old saw is risky? Will doing something like a muffler mod to an older saw put strain on old parts in a new way and cause a faster failure? Ive got a husky 351 that seems to very well but being a guy Im thinking maybe it could run better.. I took the muffler off tonight and had a look at it., there arent any baffles in it. the exhaust comes in the back and out the top and is deflected forward to avoid plastic meltdown I suspect. I was thinking about adding a second outlet in the front. Thinking the front to keep the exhaust away from the plastic and being a welder I could mig weld a small threaded collar into it and if need be plug it if it runs worse, or would the outlet being infront of the inlet drop the back pressure to much,. and is there anything to gain by doing this? or should I follow dear old Dads wisdom and follow his advice of " If it ain't broke dont fix it"???
Thanks
Dale M

how old are you talking?

Hi . Mike you mentioned old saws have a muffler system that cant really be helped by doing a mod . My Saw from what I can tell was built in the year 2000, its a husqvarna 351.. so is that to old to bother with a muffler mod?
Thanks again
