I have a line on a 2001 model 13 with the 80hp 4039 Jon deere diesel. The hour meter says 500 but that can't be right. He sent a video showing it works strong and well. Original paint and decals. Faded but no rust. Selling price is $7750 which seems like a good price. It's an 8 hr drive from my house. Anyone give me any feedback on how this deal sounds?

That's a good price. But you have to look at the feed table and check for cracks. If the owner was like me I always cut big wood into pancakes to chip them and Morbark did not have any support under the feed table until year 2005 when they put 2 supports under the table. I had a model 13 and 18 and they both did the same thing. The 18 was a nightmare. The drum is too far away from the feed wheels unlike the bandits.

The Model 13 is one of the great chippers and as is the JD engine. If it's as described I would buy it in a minute.
The main problem with that chipper is they clog real easy when chipping light weight material with the chute turned to the side.
Look at the back of the tachometer, if it has the original paint on it then it is probably original. Also a 2001 should have a dated tag on the tach.
