father-in-law saw a morbark for sale and talked to the guy. It's an '83 or '84, 4 cylinder ford gas engine, self-feeder, 9", no idea on the hours, painted red. Guy wants $3000. You know know as much about this as I do.... :)

What model is this? Disc or drum?
What should I look for on the chipper when I go there tomorrow to look at it?
Deal or not?

We burn most stuff down to 4" or so so the size isn't that big of a deal for max capacity - looking for a bigger chipper than the little 5-10HP models because they're just a total PITA to use.

Sounds like a fair price. Check bearing on chipper flywheel. Use crow bar and check for up and down play and side play. There shouldn't be any play. Bearing are available at any bearing dealer not Morbark. Good Luck.
