Picked up a couple elm logs today. One was about 7 feet long, the other more like 3 or so. The bark on them was quite different, but the wood looked very similar, and they were also unusual in my experience for elm that they were odourless.

After about four hours of milling and associated distractions, we wound up with 11 nice slabs.

Tomorrow is going to be spent organizing the wood pile, and then hopefully I'll get one more day milling this week.

Fresh cut the elm mike & I been milling smells sweet to , i was getting soaked where the saw dust hit , turned some today and got my shirt wet . I know what you mean sometimes it stinks so bad . we need to find out what causes it so we can Ovid . may be the sap sowers ? with time .
