Stihl crazy, nice saws, I also live in nova Scotia, I see that you have 3 ps5100 dolmars, how do you like them? I can get one for $500 plus tax. Are they reliable? I have read lots on this site about them, but I would value your opinion because you are an everyday user and you cut the same size wood as I do and with lots of limbs lol. I have owned only husky saws 254s, 1-346xp and 365 and my last 3 saws were all 357xps, all of which have broken on the clutch side of the crankcase right up where the brake handle is attached, I do not abuse my saws, and I am very annoyed by the quality of the 357xp , the saw I own now has about 300 cords of wood on it and it is broken. A new case is $300 plus tax and my dealer tells me that husky has strenghtened the case in the area I mentioned but I am not too sure about spending $350 for a used case as opposed to a new dolar for $575, I may try and get my 357xp welded if I can find a welder who can weld magnesium. Whats your opinion? I know the dolmars are speedy but do they hold together? By the way cool video the other day of your cutting, thats the same way I do it.:rockn:

Anyone care to chime in on the reliability of the 5100 or has anyone here also had crankcases break on a 357xp? Maybe sawtroll you would know.

Hi Craiggy, the oldest 5100 I have has over 1000 tanks thru it now. The only problem was a broken starter spring. To me the 5100 is the closest saw performance wise to the 254. Light, handles well with speed and power. I get to try my heated one tomorrow.

Stihl Crazy

Nice collection of saws. I see that your saws are comprised of 246's & 5100's with varying mods having been done. I'm just curious, how did you come to select and what motivated you to go with your current saw line-up? I'm aware of the two model's attributes...I'm curious about the 3 & 3 line-up? And once again...nice saws.

Ooops!

I just saw where I missed the 242, I'm still curious about your selection. Thanks!
