I had almost posted that link a while ago, but couldn't think of a catchy way to title the thread.

The link to the company page is TritonLogging.com.

I was gonna ask whether it was Husky or Stihl, and what kind of bar oil they use...

I'm surprised neither site got slashdotted (I've got a 4 digit ID there and it's were I saw the link).

Actually, it's a bit off-topic for this forum. In that vein, I think this walking harvester is neater.

A while ago I read a story about harvesting logs up stream from a dam being built in S. America. The contractor didn't get the logging done before the river flooded the banks so they did some underwater logging.

If I remember right, they used hydraulic saws, either oil or air, driven off a floating platform. The first few times the cut down [up, wouldn't it be? :) ] a tree it popped the hinge and went shooting for the surface. The trees were out of control. I think they ended up using tether systems to guy out the trees after a while. Think of what it would be like to hold a balloon down.

wouldn't it be wild to have scuba gear and go inside a tree to trim? It would be like crane jobs.

wonder whatthey used stihl or husky
for the saw on that sumarine..
i bet they had to call in ehp or dan or somebody to get that motor to run on water- fuel mix rather than air fuel mix.:D

That underwater feller buncher machine is being used just North of the community I live in. That partially submerged timber is worth big bucks if its old growth fir it gets shipped overseas in containers. What they can harvest out of the lake would be worth a ton more money compared to the little pecker poles that some of you guys harvest :D

As a sub, I'm thinking I could replace the other sub. I'm thinking scuba gear... underwater chainsaw... Hmmm.

That underwater chainsaw might be a problem...;)
