Milled a small red oak log this morning. That 6400 handles that 28" bar just fine, I can't wait to have my Stihl 045av up and running, waiting on recoil parts. Here are some pics.

Maybe it's just an optical illusion created by the camera, but your end boards appear to be out of kilter. Are you using a torpedo level on the end boards ?

A highly appropriate mother's day activity. :)

Yes, it looks out of whack because the cross cuts aren't the straightest, but the boards themselves are level where the running boards are attached.

Here are some more pictures. One thing I need to change is the handle placement. It is just a tad too far out, I have pretty long arms, but that is still a little far out. The Rubber cushion blocks I am using to hold the bar in actually help the saw ride against the wood nicely, but I think roller skate wheels will be making an appearance on the new mill as well. There is my milling buddy too, got to teach him young.

Fine looking young man you've got working with you. I hope my kids will look back one day and have some of the same good memories I have from working with my dad. Thanks for sharing.

I have a year and a half year old daughter who likes to be at the fire wood pile with dad when I am splitting and stacking, my son, Wyatt will be 3 in September, he was handing me screws this spring when I was building the deck you see in the slab pictures. Biggest blessing in this hillbilly's life.

My boys are seven and three. Don't know what I'd do, or who I'd be without them!

The oldest loves to help Daddy when splitting, and the youngest just got a toy saw for his B-Day, which he played with until the batteries were dead in less than a day! THAT'S MY BOY!

Good looking slabs ya got there, I have a 15 month old son that has helped me stack lumber off of the mill at my place and helps keep the tractor seat warm when I am working without him I've found belting him in the seat where he can't reach the key to start it is a real lifesaver when it comes to getting things done, and he has a blast playing with the front end loader valve or the rear remote levers).

Of course he also like climbing on the lumber stack when we're done.

This is what I did on Mother's day. Hey, the wife said she just wanted to clean the house, so I stayed out of her way!

Having Fun With Your Kids

JIm,

Looks like everyone had a good time Mothers Day. It's good to see your kids have fun doing things with their dad's. My son is now 26, but I have a grandson who is 3-1/2ys old and loves to be out with Papa cutting wood or in the shop working on something. We just built him his own workbench last week.

He'll be able to pass that on to his kids someday, good job Papa. Good to see that in some parts of the world the family isn't a thing of the past.
