Besides, the desecration of the month starting on a Sunday, permitting the Friday 13th just before the apex of the month as foretold in lore-ain't until tomorrow (Sun. Aug. 1)!

I don't know what it is about fridays, maybe the fatigue factor. I've had a lotta bad things happen on that day. I took a fall that blew my knee out on that day, and I've seen bad things happen to other people.
Nutting wrong with a three day weekend!

i think that has more to do with 'Bolt Fever' than supersticions. Usually, guys just got to get gone, hurry to do so and don't work in a bar, bank or restaurant etc., so figure it should be an ez day!
Sometimes it is better to pull the plug, and let all that distracted force dissipate over the weakend i think; re-collect and go on fresh later. Hu-man factor is part of the mechanics; and it can cost very much more to complete a job under many types of adverse conditions, missing tools, attitudes etc.
Hard to wrestle the massive bull to the ground commandingly while not looking at it squware in da'eye!
