MS 271 muffler mod or not(Im new here)

Hello
So this is my first saw and yes im green. I love adding more power just to do it and modifying anything. I really want to know if modifying the muffler is worth it or not. Thanks for any help and i getting saw crazy already.

How will you do it?

You'll likely get what your looking for more by learning to properly tune your saw to the conditions your cutting in, and learn to re-tune it as those conditions change. I'm primarily talking atmospheric....but changes from hardwood to softwood could benefit in tuning adjustments as well. Muffler mods are over-rated. Properly tuned carburetors are not.

Thanks. Well kind of were im going with this. Not sure of the best way, cut louvers or go with a MS 290 cover welded on for a second port. Any thoughts?

I do retune my saw when needed, so with that being said go or no go. I really do like trying things, but not if its going to screw up the saw.
