Plus does any one do this and at what temp is this not ok to run this at. Its like 45 to 50 degs out and I dont know if I should or not thanks...

As for the cold weather shutter, pull up on it, flip it around, and stick back where it came from so the opening in the case is nolonger closed by the shutter and warm air can pass through the window on the shutter. I run mine saws with the shutter open when cutting below twenty degrees.

When I used to have an MS-310, I ran it as if it was summer year-round. Heat is the enemy, and I'd much rather deal with a little carb icing than an overheated saw...and it never iced up that I'm aware of, anyway.

If the 310 is the same as a 290 then there is a black rubber flap that fits around the spark plug that the manual says should be changed when you change the summer/winter shutter also. This has to be changed to help redirect the air flow. Traded my 290 for a MS361 so I don't have the manual to tell you the proper position.
Maybe one of the dealers on here can help you with the position.

That's right, I forgot about that. MS-310, you should be able to downloiad your owner's manual from the stihlusa site, that should explain it.
