Would it be possible to mate a MS 440 flywheel side case half to a 044 and have the new style caps? If someone was already splitting their case, it might be nice to go with the newer style tooless caps.

WHY WHY WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:deadhorse: Keep the old caps!!!!!!!!!!!

That's what the 044 calls for? I have the IPL for the 440 and that's the case for the 440. I would have thought that the case for the 044 was different since it had the older style caps. It doesn't look like they list parts for just one side.

You cannot randomly use case sides that were not machined as a pair.. so that pretty much preludes what you want to do. This is why you have to buy them as a complete set.

Boston - be careful with Medicat - it showing you a replacment part as the newer version; it cannot be inferred as the same..

If you have odd sides, keep them for a beach BBQ - mag burns real nice once it gets going

FIRE!!! FIRE!!!!! HEH, HEH, HEH, YEAH, BURN!!!!! BURN!!!!!!!!!! HEH, HEEEEEEEEH HEHHHHHEEEEEE YEAH BURN!!!!!

Nah, not usually any sparks, but a nice bright warm glow :blob2: THIS STUFF BURNS HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't light the fire anywhere near anything you don't want to BURN!!!!!!! It's cool, but BE CAREFULL!!!!

200T's really burn well..:D :D :D :D Only problem is it's a SOB to put out, and dangerous as hell if you try to dump water on it, so just let it burn out...

UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM........................... NEVER add water to a Mag. fire, water is a catalyst, the chemical properties of the mag breaks down the hydrogen in water and leaves just oxeygen, makes the fire bigger!!! You have to bury, or burn out a mag fire!!

Now you've gone and ruined it.... how's the guy supposed to get a big rush now?????:biggrinbounce2:

Only as pairs... Unfortunately some sold after spliting aren't pairs and it's almost impossible to tell until assembled, and sometimes not then. I have seen odd parts work, but the real problem is in the crank counter bore - it can easily be a tiny amount off.

When I buy a crankcase I try to get it whole, not matter how hammered the crank or bearing are

What about PKP or Halon?

Making me do my homework now:dizzy:

In the machine shops we always had a bag of foundry flux handy to pour on it if it caught fire.

I am learning now that epsom salt will work, but not the CO2 extinguishers, again the mag burns too hot and creates more O2 out of that, interesting? The dry powder, class D extinguishers will work

I am reading no to use Halon, but can't give you a real reason why? Hopefully somebody with more knolwedge will step in
