Hi,
just bought this saw cheap. The guy said it ran then wouldnt start when hot mmm. Anyway took the clutch cover off and the clutch shaft has huge amount of play. I have no experience of these saws but I guess it’s got big problems?

Bearings and piston. NO play up and down on the rod is allowed. Side to side rod play is OK. Just cause it "runs" don't mean it is ok. When I get a saw in the shop like this there are two choices-fix it or run it until it grenades.Up to you.
Definitely a vacuum and pressure test to check seals and cyclinder gasket. Common issues.

With all the play in the crank you cant do a pressure or vacuum test on it . In my opinion the saw is junk.
parts only
OP if you buy that listing from eBay that you posted, you still need a piston and from where I'm looking I can't tell you exactly everything else, I guess a Vac and Pressure tester.
Hi, I bought the crankcase/shaft. is the piston that bad? I’ve cleaned it up and looks ok here’s another picture. Thanks for your advice.
