Hello all, newbie here. I have several Stihl saws/trimmers etc. but am having a b****h of a time with this saw. The filter base is attached to the carb with 2 deep set 8mm (?) nuts. I've got plenty of 8mm sockets, but not thin enough to get it in the hole. My problem (I think, I've had this issue before) is a duff intake manifold. [The saw loses power when I hit the throttle hard, won't accelerate.]
Sooooo, how do you get the darn filter base off?
Thanks,
AJ

Thanks HarleyT for the idea. Sooo....disaster averted. I ground an 8mm driver that I had. Perfect. Turns out I didn't need to remove the carb after all.
As for the crappy acceleration, it wasn't what I had suspected. Just shi**y gas (rookie mistake). BUT>>>>I had the exact same thing happen on my 028 WB a few years ago. Turned out to be a bad/ruptured intake boot.
Now, after a few new parts, she'll be just like new!
