A friend of mine is bidding on an MS310 on ebay.
I'm not familiar with the 310, is it a good minimal use home owner saw, how long have they been making the 310?
He bid $225. with the S&H $30.00.
Saw looks clean but the info is minimal. Seller has good feed back.
Any info about the 310 would be helpful.
Thanks ya'll

I had one. It's a decent saw. It's in the 290/310/390 family. Some people have some bad things to say about them but they haven't owned one either. If he's going to cut a couple cords a year it'll be a good saw.

MS 310 is a good saw for what you plan to use it for. There is no reason for you to spend much more money for a pro quality saw if you plan to use it for light homeowner use. The saw will probably outlast you if you take care of it.

I have one and it runs fine.

People knock it by comparing it to the ms360-361, same size saw, but thats a better grade of saw, and costs more.
It's designed for farmers, part time firewood cutters etc who just need a reliable mid size saw. It does what it's supposed to do ;)

If the saw is in good condition, the price is sensible and he looks after it, then it will serve him well.

Cheers

Ian

To me that sounds closed to top price for a very good one. I agree its a good saw for its intended purpose. If he is thinking of bidding any more then that I would look at the better line models 026 to ms360 as he is getting in their price range. He would be getting a better tougher tool to work with and the pro models would probably retain most of their value if resold years later.
I sold 2 310's earliar this year . 1 at $250 ( about 70% like new ) The other run well but had a hole repaired with a big glob of gas tank repair material and looked more used I got $175. I sold a very nice 026 pro the same day for $275 that I would rate 75% like new.

Right, in my book!! :)

There is a lot of "overbidding" on used Stihl saws at E-bay, so tell him to watch it!

Hey Smithie55 if your buddie's stuck on Stihl,,, and he doesnt win that one,,,

He can get an MS 270 new for about 350,,, and its smaller in size, lighter and more nimble, has more power, is a pro-grade saw, more durable, & with better resale value!!!!!

How can you beat that????
