MS380 First Impessions....

I unboxed the brand new 380 I got off of ebay for what I thought was a good price. It was made in Brazil and the finish on the saw is extremely nice, not that that means a lot. Comes with a dual port muffler with no screens, no limiter caps, only one safety decal and a lot more of the smaller parts are cad plated unlike any other new Stihl I've ever purchased. I put in some fresh fuel with Mobil synthetic and it fired right up. I'm going to check it with a tach and go take down a huge Cork Screw Willow at a neighbors place. I'll report back when I'm finished. I thought that these were new old stock. However, some of the casted parts have an 06' date cast on them along with the 05'-2006' date printed on the owners manual.

Is the 380 the same as the older 038? Sounds like a cool saw.

Btw, I just noticed you don't like stock saws :rock:

Yeah,
My saws aren't stock, my 8000lb. diesel isn't either, my cartridges are wildcats and I married a red head with big b--bs. I just like to be different! Also, the 380 is the same as the older 038 Mag.
