Ms390-044 carb filter convert

I've read some folks have converted the 390 carburetor to the 044 as a direct bolt on which would be great for mine, I opened the transfers and lowered the intake just a touch. Would I also be able to use the 044 air filter?

I used the 390 filter on mine. I didn't explore the idea of using the 044 filter.
