MS441 Muffler Insulating Pad

That said, I would still like to know what material they were made out of and how thick?

They are NLA from Stihl and I have not spotted one for sale, otherwise.

Is that a CAT muffler or is #19 used on all versions? It is there to keep from boiling the oil in the oil tank. Looks thicker than most I have seen. Usually these are just reflective foil with PSA adhesive.

It's on the 441, 441-w, and 441 c-q.

Not on the z, vwz, rvwz, rz, cqz versions. No idea what that Z stands for.

No CAT. The muffler shows no sign of anyone being in there...and, it's just an empty SS can.

Yes, I have seen Stihl saws with that foil you mention. This seems to be something else.

It may be a change because the 441 is a strato-saw and they run considerably hotter.

The FSM mentions fitting the pad...but, not why the 441 has one.

I cant tell on mine. It is pre stainless muffler and dirty. The hump back there looks like it is part of the case but it might be behind that.

Looks like the thick heat pad I'm going to be buying in bulk to use on milling saws to get heat away from the oil tank. Also found reflective heatshield tape in rolls now that holds up to fuel and oil.
