My ms460 has spark and fuel, and sure seems to have strong compression. I replaced the plug(old one showed weak spark)and gapped the ignition module and it kind of spit a LITTLE-enough to pop the decompression valve, but that's it. Any suggestions? Piston seems fine. It just sputtered out while running and hasn't started since.

did you pull the muffler off and check the piston?

I'll do that today-it doesn't make sense, though. I was running the saw myself and my mix was absolutely right.

If I was you I would post this in the chainsaw forums there is some chainsaw gurus there.

"sure seems to have strong compression"

Hmm, pull the muffler. Tell us what you see and get a picture if your unsure.

how hard were you running it was it getting real hot?

MS 460 no fire

You say the saw has no fire... meaning it has no spark or it has spark and won't start???

The 046 and now the MS460 is no different than any other chainsaw. In most problems like this the spark arrestor screen could be plugged due to the saw running too slow. The MS460 should run at 13,800 WOT with a bar and chain. If the screen is not the problem check the amount of output spark the module is producing, the spark plug will use 10,000 volts so it must produce more than that, 15,000 volts would be sufficient.
