Does anyone know if the mufflers available online(part # 308539001) for the Ryobi 10532/Zenoah GZ400 are empty can/pre-emissions versions versus the ones on newer Ryobi 3714/MTD 38-40cc saws that are heavy and choked up with a cat. Am working on easiest way to "muffler mod" and port some of these without cutting open, unclogging and JB Welding the newer mufflers.

I took a drill to mine.
I drilled a 1/2 inch hole under the deflector through everything except the back of the muffler then put the deflector back on and a 3/8 hole straight into the front beside the mounting bolts on the chain side through all but the back wall.
It's plenty loud now the holes bypass the baffles.
You can also fish gill it on the chain side behind the seam bypassing the baffles.
