Thought I would share with you a tree my I got to use my new 441 on recently. A gentleman that comes into work over heard me talking about firewood and said he had an old dead tree I could have. Turned out to be the red oak you see in the pic.
Felling it was not too big of a challenge, other than it was on the big end of trees I usually fell, and it was on the shoulder of the road. If I messed up the drop, it would land on the road and I would have a big mess to clean up quick. It's not a very busy road by any means, and in a rather rural area. I setup road cones to block traffic when I made the back cut, and of course some idiot know it all drove right through them. Blame either being rushed, or perhaps the first time out with the 32" bar, but I boogered the back cut as you can see. Started out good on my side, then let the cut drop on the far side of the tree. Used some good wedge technique that I picked up from here, and that old tree lay down just as perfect as I could have hoped for right on the high side of the ditch. A lot of the trunk ended up as cookies and then chunks thanks to my Fiskars. I hate picking up heavy wood.
The 32" bar has since been returned to it's place on my shop wall till the next big one. That's a lot of bar to tote around in these parts, an a 25" does me much better. Enjoy!
