No, I'm not repainting chainsaws again.
Just picked this Makita dcs430 up off FleaBay and I like it a lot.
Probably paid a bit more than it's worth, but I keep seeing the bids run sky high, so I hit the Buy it now and got it for $125.
Not too bad, since it seems to be in excellent condition. Pulled the muffler off, and the piston and jug are perfect. Put gas and oil in and it fired right up, no carb issues.
It still had the original bar and chain which were kinda lame, so I stole the Carlton off my SEZ, same mount and pitch. Cuts real nice now. I really like the weight and balance of this saw.
Any tips on opening up this muffler? It does not come open like a Stihl, crimped all the way around.
 
I have a DCS401 Blue Dolmar for cutting trails and doing the
crap work and it's a gem, my most tolerant saw when it comes
to maintenance. It's the redheaded stepchild saw, and it never
asks for new socks! The crew in Hamburg know how to build a
Stihl!!!
