About a week ago, I had to have a 110 foot pine (the base was about 36 inches through) dropped in my little tiny back yard. There is no room for error in this back yard without hitting something or hitting the neighbors fence. As he went up he dropped the limbs all in one neat pile near the tree and then each section all in the same place, which was the only place in the whole back yard without damaging something. Very skilled!!! It was impressive and my hats off to you all and the work you do!:clap::clap::clap::clap:

I also loved it when the sections bounced..

There is a lot of highly skilled fallers that you'll never see on this site. The states of OR/WA/CA are plum full of guys 45-65 that are damn good but are out of the trade. I meet them and run into them all the time. Sad, we used to log a fair bit out West. This was a breeding ground for fallers.

Big difference between felling a tree and bombing everything into a tight area in vertical progression like Oregon Grown describes.

Big, multi-stem trees over top of the house, porch and utility lines is yet another world (no crane, no bucket).

Good point Tree Machine!

You have to be pretty skilled and/or lucky that none of the sections bounced or rolled or richocheted off the others or you had more room to work with than you lead us to believe. If you had room to bomb it out then you had more room than most of us are used to. I am sure many of us can tell you stories of rigging down every single piece of wood.

Yaaa. It's what makes us feel alive, having our skills pushed towards the outer limits. Solving problems. Overcoming crux situations. Finishing with zero damage and zero injuries.

The guys that can do it all impress me...it looks easy until you get up there..

CLimbing work is exhausting and dangerous, but it sure is fun..I love the look on peoples face when a piece goes down a speedline and hits just right...

OTOH..cleaning someones gutters by dumping then kinda sucks...
