I finally was able to meet with the guy to get my saw. Overall the saw is in great condition. The guy had it running way too rich, to the point that is was smoking all the time, and cut slower than my pm700. I blew it off with some compressed air and cleaned the hd air filter with my k&n cleaning kit and leaned the carb out on both the H and L needles. It still is a little rich, but cuts a lot better now. I plan on porting it soon and getting a 24" bar for it. The one on it is worn badly. After I ran it for the first time, the compression tested 150psi warm.

Thanks! It is still very dirty. The only bad scuff can be seen on the rear handle. After I took these pics I was able to make the plastic shine more just by wiping it with an old t-shirt. I plan on giving it a good clean before porting it. Right now I am just cutting with it so I will be able to reconize the future gains. One thing that surprised me was the weight. It seems pretty heavy considering all the plastic that it has. I ordered a 24" bar from Amick's this morning for it. I ran it this weekend in some 36" red oak. It had good power, but I could easily bog it with the 20" bar if I wanted to.

That's great compression hot.

It wasn't real hot, but you wouldn't want to touch the muffler. I had just run it for a minute and reved it a few times. I probably won't gain much compression when I drop the cylinder because I will clean all the carbon buildup from the top of the piston and cylinder. I am hoping for 160psi after I port it and drop the cylinder.

Oh, and based on a search that I did on the forum, I think that this saw was made in 1995. I saw how Saw Troll used the serial number to come up with the year and week that the saws were made.
