well today i went to an auction and there it was . :blob2:
the biggest meanest scariest meat eating saw i ever saw.
a clinton ???
now it is all there so a full restore is in progress.
it rund but does not rev very high ??
has a miss so i am thinking that it may be condenser related????
what you think??
i removed and cleaned the carb with care as i am sure my local small engine may not have parts.
btw the rubber in the carb was good so i just cleaned out the gunk.
i was looking for a briggs retore project but this saw will be way more fun .

Welcome bassman,

You must remember this one thing about the OLD saws, they dont rev high like todays saws, they'll rev at around 6-7K tops, around 4500rpm with load on em. the saws of old are not fst machines, but they ARE torquey, and VERY strong machines.

i understand this saw wont hit 13 thousand but from idle to top end it is not much differnt.
sounds like it does 5 revolutions and fire and so on.

well, then it may be too rich or too lean on the H screw in the carb, probably too rich, I really dont know for sure.

does anybody have a sound or vid clip that i could get to see and hear what one in good running order sounds like????

i would say ..depending on the model of carb...if it is all original....the fuel pump and rubber diaphragm needs to be very souple.with age they kind of hardened and the saw wont supply anough gaz through the base...carb will be hard to adjust at "wot" and you probably need a carb kit like my "D25-1113".....ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND.this is my opinion......thanks

my local guy has carb kits for my clinton saw :blob2:
i will post what i find when i rebuild it this weekend.
