I recently bought a 5000 plus at an auction , The bar cover needed repair and kill switch and wire needed some fixen. I got it all cleaned out and repairs complete the other night and dressed the bar and found a new stihl 63 gauge 325 pitch that fit well. When I put it on, the chain would hang up when I tensioned it and tightned the bar nuts.I originally thought the sprocket looked ok but concluded it was the cause. No sprocket in .325 fit that I have so I tried a new 18" 3/8 pitch Husky bar,new chain, and what looked to be a very good sprocket in 3/8 and it did the same. 2 am. so I give up for the night and it is still on my bench. I am a little tossed on which bar I will put on,Probably the 18 inch 3/8,being the sprocket on the nose of the 16 does'nt look that good. On the other hand after I try it out well I will probably sell it and have considerly more $ in the bar, chain ,sprocket combo. I think it will have enough power to pull the 18" if it has near the power of an 026 which I assume it does.

nice family of partners you got there, Cut. I noticed my local husky dealer had a saw like that on the shelve lately but it had a good seizure. Do someone know if this partner has interchangeable parts with jonsered or husky ?

Cut, how does the performance of these saws compare to others ?
thanks

I believe the closest Jonsereds are the 490/590, and then 2051/2054/2055.

The closest Huskys are the 50 Rancher family.

I don't know how close they are, as to parts, but they are based on the basic 500/5000 design.

The Partner 540 is also related, and was still made, the last time I looked.

thanks Niko,

I was thinking of course to use a Jonny cylinder & piston to rebuilt the Partner 500, if possible. Jonny's are quite easy to find here, so... you wouldn't know if they interchange??

Sorry, no, I don't know - maybe you should ask Magnus?

Btw, Cut4fun may know also, he was just writing abort a 490 cylinder on a 5000 in another forum (you know which one)......

The Jred 490 and 590 will work on the Partner/Pioneer 5000 and 500. The 590 will have 1mm more on the bore size. The 490 and 5000+ topends should be of closed port and open window piston design. The 500 and some early 5000's were open port and solid piston.
I dont know about all those others listed in above post, so i cant comment on the something I havent tried. But by hearsay, I have heard stories where Husky used the Partner 5000+ topends on the Husky 50 or 51 and called them a Magnum.

P.S. Can you still get Jred 490 open window design piston kits over there new 44mm?

Hey C4, Only 5??????? Heck, thats not even a six pack, better get one more.

Now there you go thinking romeo, I did a guy a favor and sold one of my 5000's to him (#6) that he wanted for a hotty saw build over at R.S. Plus i have #7 here in parts for next winters project.
