Over the years this site and its members have helped me a lot. A while ago Ekka showed us a pic of a hook he made for his saddle to hang his saw from. I made a couple and it has made my job just that little bit easier. So in that spirit I want to share a couple of things that I came up with that have made my life a little bit easier also. I hope someone likes them and it can make their life a little easier also. The first two pics are of some extruded plates I welded under my hooks. They give me a little traction on take downs when you have to do a limb walk. The next two are of a "chain caddy" I came up with to keep my chains organized. I am able to put four chains of each lengths on it, the nut is the same size as the wrench. The wrench I painted orange and put a cable on it, I haven't lost one since. The last pic is a tool I made for the throw line when you need to pull the line through a tight union. No more cut fingers! So I hope someone can use these ideas in the spirit it was intended. Have a safe new year, Pete

right on pete, thanks for sharing. It's innovations like these that help keep this site interesting!

Good stuff Pete, innovation at work. A little Christmas present for AS members.

Do you know enough about welding and metallurgy to do that welding on your spikes? That modification concerns me...

After spending time talking with people who are much more skilled and knowledgeable metal wizards I know that welding is a good way to mess up good metal.

Tom, Thanks for your concern. I have been a tool and die maker for over 28 years. So yes I do have alot of experience working with different types of metals and steels. That said, you are right. As with anything , tree work included, anyone not knowledgeable in any field should never do something they are not sure of or qualified for. I respect your opinion. Pete
