I know many of you have much bigger piles, but this is the most wood I have had in my yard since moving here. I also included some pictures of the wind damage to the popplers from this summer. Now that the leaves are gone, you can really see the damage. More pics on the next post.

Oak, Ash, Elm, some Birch and Poppler are what I have.

Cool. Have about 2 cords for the stove in the shop. Used 2 tanks of gas cutting huge oak logs in half in the 039 with a 20" bar. Just might make a wood boiler, and cut a few more cords for it.

Those are awesome firewood piles. Like money in the bank and nice constant heat. This year we've got mostly 'Siberian Elm' to burn- burns a bit longer than soft maple and alot better coals, but leaves tons of ash.

The past two weeks, I have gotten four pickup loads from the woods where I cut. The supply is endless! We used to go here for wood when I was a kid many years ago. It is my Uncle's woods, but I know many of the people in the area, so I probably have about 200-300 acres of river woods that I can cut from. Right now, I am trying to take care of tornado damage from last summer. The twister knocked down hundreds of trees in the area. The two oaks I took today filled my pickup and trailer. They might have made some great milling logs. It was about 20 feet until the first branch!

Now, I need to get spitting!:hmm3grin2orange:

I haul my wood on a big old "Ditch Witch" trencher trailer. The thing is huge, and can handle like 4 tons or something like that. Load that thing so full, no more wood can fit in it (with plywood on the sides so it can hold more).

That would be nice. One thing I like about my pickup/trailer combination is when they are totally full, I am usually pretty tired and it is probably time to stop cutting for the sake of being safe, especially after heaving those big pieces from the woodpile into the pickup!

Yes, I do. They should be a challenge since the tops are still attached. There is so much crud on the ground that it will be hard to get there. Plus, there are tons of poison ivy plants in those woods. I HATE poison ivy!

If I can get to it, I should be able to gather at least a cord or cord and a half without having to drive anywhere else.
