Hey guys, as this forum hits 1000 threads..it has been brought up that it seems that information can be getting hard to find, and we are seeming to go in circles with the same topics. Would everyone be open to the idea of separating some of these threads into sub forums of their own...ie: "modified saws", "lubrication- engine/bar", etc...??

I think this is a good idea. Heck, do a search on "Gypo" sometime. He could be the topic of a dedicated forum in his own right.

My two cents, Leave it alone. Encourage people to search old threads before posting new ones that may be on an existing topic. Confine all thoughts on one topic to one thread, don't start a new one everytime you get a new idea about a Jonsered 2149 for example. I will support any direction this board goes, I love it here.

Hey I'd give you my 2 cents worth........but I'm broke......due to lack of knowledge (see thread on cnd. chainsaws) ha,ha,ha. Just kidding I agree with sedanman, I'll support any ideas, this site is great!!!!!!:blob2:

If you divide it up too much I think it will hurt the
forum overall. The wide array of jerks that post
and fight here makes this a special place. If you
splinter it down, people will hang out in their
favorite spots and not wander out. Unless you
have a ruminant forum, I am against the idea.

Yeah, what fish said.
I love this forum with all my heart & will stick with it. But it is us crazies that make it addictive & keep eveyone coming back....
Lets be fair & hear everybodies ideas before we vote on it, cuz somebody might come up with a really good idea...

I do agree in the fact that in making subforums may cause people not to read everything...and "hang out" in certain areas like alot of us do now in the "chainsaw" forum....I also agree that it is the diversity of the people here that make this place what it is...

Possibly we could put old (untouched for say... one week? two weeks?) threads into category specific archives? Then as Sedan said...encourage people to look through the archives....

forum

Please leave us all together. But if you want to shorten up the current list and achive the others so they can be searched out fairly easily, it would be good.

I like it the way it is.

Having fun cuz I want to do it

Ok, there are a few things you guys need to know about the software. Once you go over and if you don't like it, it will be difficult to move the threads back. I personally feel the topics you guys want to talk about stay on top anyway, so it wont change much. As far as asking the same questions, you will always get that. The new people don't seem to read any posting guidelines or search criteria. I even wrote it right in the homeowner forum once and we got the same questions constantly. My thoughts are that it should stay in one, but I will do what you guys want to do.:blob3

Yeah, what fish said ... leave the forum as is.

Even though the same questions are asked over and over, sometimes you might get different answers or opinions.

Yeah, what Bennett said about Fish. But not what Fish said about Bennett....Rick

Well heres my 2 cent pieces' worth. I agree with the idea of leaving a great,.... no wait,..... an absolutely fantastic thing just the way it is. I've waited years for this kind of forum to be developed. There is so much knowledge here. Engineers, Shop Owners, Pro Cutters, Happy Homeowners, Pro Techs, Etc. I never ever realized how many others enjoyed the same topics of conversation until this Forum.

By the looks of it and what it looks like in JPS's poll, it looks like we should keep it the same. But please do searches new guys.

The search feature is a great tool. I use it quite a bit, when I have a question about something. Today I did a search on starter dogs. Came up with several hits.
