I worked thurs on some big Euc's that were taller then the k-b00m by maybe 30ft. I had an other job for Fri. so it was important I got the tree down to where one of his climber could handle it with the crane. We lots of times have one guy set the chokers and another in the tree making the cuts. It's fast that way on some trees.
The trick. Let me say I don't if this is wrong or bad, but he did it today and it worked slick. He Operater make a loop with the choker. A piece of duck tape on the clip to keep the loop open, and he would but it over the end of the piece to be picked.(easy to do with a K-b00m) then when he put tension on the choker, the tape brakes and it tighens. I just thought it was cool and it worked good.

I've done the same using a small stick to keep the loop open. Once the choker is on the spar tighten it to break the stick. The tape sounds like a great idea though because sometimes the stick falls out or breaks before the choker is in place.

Thats a great tip / trick. Gonna use that on my next crane job if its the right situation. Wonder if the kboom master Matt knows that trick?
