My son found me a 460 Stihl that was rebuilt with a 660 Big Bore kit from Bailey's. It has a 30" bar now, the milling attachment I made would be maxed out with a 42" bar. Are there any brands that are superior or any that should be avoided?

660bb kit wont fit on a 460,not without alot of specialized machine work,
most bars in that length are of a good quality or better, depends on how much work its gonna do verses how much your willing to spend

Does a standard 660 fit? Maybe I misunderstood him. It runs like a champ and pulls a 30" bar like a hot knife though butter on oak.

A bb kit will only get you to around 84cc, shy of 660 territory.

I just looked that up Thanks though. It was half the price I paid for my 2171 J Red so I feel like I still came out ahead. I just need to pry it out of my kids hands.

I have one does have nice power , mine is on a homemade mill cutting 27" . Ive had to replace the clutch ,was gonna try to fit a bigger one but found a ms660 . So be nice to the clutch in hardwood.
