There were three models of the 306.....all are 59cc.

306
306A
306SA

Can someone tell me "what are the differences between models?

Thanks in advance for any help.

306= First in series. Basic saw, manual oiler only.

306A= Manual and automatic oiler.

306SA= Manual and automatic oilers. Power sharp built in chain sharpener. This one also came with a decomp. button. I do not think the others did.

All were 59cc.

What's your opinion of the built in sharpener and the compression relief?

Are they big deals or would I be ok with a 306A?

Thanks

The built in sharpener is junk and a gimmick.

I have never run a 306 that needed a decomp..

They are a good solid firewood saw. Parts are getting scarce and unless it is in excellent shape there are a lot of better saws out there. If you are planning to use it a lot I would recommend something newer. There is no anti vibration or chain break on those saws.

They often fetch between $40-200.00 locally depending on condition. Lots of the older generation still run them around here.

The 306 had point igns as did the early 306a's and the later ones were all electronic ign.

I think they all come with auto oilers, but memory could be wrong.

306sa might have used .325 pitch chain.

Good solid perfomers in there day and still will cut alot of wood today.
