Need Help Identifying Oak growth

Why combat something harmless? If you don't like the way they look, prune them out.
 
Ray, thanks for the help in identifying the gall. It looks like a match to me.

Treeseer, the point is that I didn't know they were harmless. Why would I go straight to pruning when I didn't know what I was dealing with? My concern was that there was something abnormal growing on my oak tree.
Now that I know what they are, obviously, I don't need to do anything. Thanks.

When gall wasps mature, they bounce around when they hit the ground.

Quite amusing.

They're not a problem if the population stays low.
