I have a stihl 009 14". After several tanks of gas last weekend, it started bogging at higher rpm and finally wouldn't even get up to speed. Will start and idle but when I try to accel, it dies. Spark plug and filter look good. It has had a fair amount of use over the years. If it's the mixture, is it adjustable? What should the compression be? Thanks for the help.

Check your muffler screen.. It's under the louver cover. It could be blocked with carbon junk.

Also, if you haven't changed your fuel filter in a year or so.. you need to. PITA in an 009 but you MUST get it to slide down the slot at the back of the tank. Use long forceps

Air filter? pop it off and look at the underside...

Yup, gotta agree ^^, it sounds almost like the fuel-line is collapsing on ya under power, they do deteriorate and weaken, can be a real pita if misdiagnosed, I have had good results replacing the black rubber lines with the yellow (Tygon?? sp) lines, nice stuff and easy to get. Someone wayyyyy back mentioned how water can affect filters, they'll look ok, but not, I think its the felt ones most easily compromised (I have cleaned them using an ISO soak with good results btw).
Just my 0.02$ fer the morning coffee round :)

 (and do keep us curious sorts posted eh!)

Thanks for all the valuable input. I'll look into these things this weekend. Thanks again.
