Need help with bucket truck

I have a 1984 ford bucket truck that when you take the boom up the pump starts screaming and getting hot the pump is brand new an suggestions on what could be wrong

We'll assume you checked the fluid level.

Does it have a separate pony motor or is the pump run off the PTO?

Does the screaming occur with all actions lower boom unfold/fold, upper boom unfold/fold, pivot clockwise/counter clockwise? Do you have a trim saw attachment? Does it scream when you run that?

I'm no expert mechanic, but my first guess would be low on fluid.

It sounds like the pressure valve may be set to high. It needs set using a pressure gauge. Or it may have other problems. It may be the wrong pump.

I agree. My hydro man told me a lot of times, people will turn the pressure up when the pump starts going bad.
