Saw this tree while I was fishing the other day, this one has me stumped. I didn't have a camera on me, so I just grabbed a leaf and a nut.
The tree was about 25 feet tall, with a trunk diameter around 10", it was growing next to a riverbank here in East KY. The bark was very light colored, almost white, with some darker blotchy spots. I did some searching around, but I couldn't figure out what it was.
I forgot to add that the leaf is about 4 inches long, and the petioles were short, probably no more than 1/2 inch long.
