Hey all. I'm looking for a Husqvarna 338xpt parts saw, or top end kit/jug combo. Got an '02 338 with a bad cylinder/rings/piston for $20 and figured it's a good candidate for my first saw rebuild. Used parts are fine, as long as they are in good condition...no scuffs, gouges, lean-run issues etc. My guess is that somebody out there has one that they've dropped or ran over or....you get the idea. :)) Thanks!!

I did not realize the 338 had been around that long.

Very possible that I'm misinformed on it's age. Tim's a good guy but his memory for detail on things such as this are shady. He said he bought it in 01 or 02. He's a bit dingy.....

I do know for certain that it is a 338xpt. Any help would be stellar!! Thanks!

Hmmm. You got it for $20. The saw hasn't been around that long. It's all coming together now

Surgeon-

Not sure I follow your train of thought there...but I DO know where the saw came from and it's all legit (if that's what you mean) I'll explain...Tim's a good friend (and my mentor) and when the saw stopped working (and he found out it would be $300 to repair....) I told him I'd give him $20 for it and he tossed the box of parts into my truck. Figured it'd make a good toy for that price. Anyway...as to the age. Is it stamped in the serial number or a case somewhere? Kinda curious how old it is.

BTW-Where you at in the big FLA? I was working in Deltona and then went to Pensacola after the last one came through. Got back end of Oct. and it was still a mess. Just went to Deltona to visit family for holidays and my wife couldn't believe that there was ever a hurricane. It was ALL cleaned up (except for the lovely blue FEMA tarps) I was amazed at the progress in the 2 months or so I was gone.

Thanks

Chris

Just saying that it would probably cost you more for parts (since it is a fairly new model), than to go out and buy another. And tell your friend he needs to always put oil in the gas. :) Oh ya, I do live in Deltona-east side, seen ALOT of money hungry "tree guys" appear and disappear overnight...I'm sure Rocky can back me on this ;)

You think it's bad there...it's 100 times worse in Pensacola area. Or was. Any Tom Dick and Numb-nutz with a saw was making signs and sticking them up all over the place. Saw some guys with signs in there yards "CHAINSAW FOR RENT" or "CHAINSAW SERVICE. DONE IN AN HOUR" Saw plenty of guys just dropping stuff on top of peoples houses. Anyway...we made Deltona our first stop cause we stayed with my family...then we ended up in Orange City Motel. (And the Sports Den.... :dizzy: ) We were in Valdosta when the hurricane hit Pen. but we decided not to risk going straight in there...wish we would have. The place was a WRECK when we got there but there was alot already done. Such is life I suppose. And yeah...they wanted WAY to much to fix it to justify not buying a new one. But somebody out there has one...if not now, then sooner or later. And I'll be here waitin'! :)
