I need to get a rebuild kit for this carb but don't know the PN#. It is on a McCulloch 4900. I hope that I just need a rebuild to get more fuel so the saw will 4 stroke. I don't really want to go looking for an air leak, plus parts are really hard to find.

The saw has taken quite a beating on my behalf while "learning" about chainsaws and how to run them. Now that I have some knowledge I have a 357xp that gets taken care of really well, thanks in large part to you folks here on the board.

The 4900 is now my backup saw and I am just trying to tune her up and make her healthy again. Thank you all for helping me progress along the learning curve. Due to all the input I have received and or read, I have full PPE, got in touch with my neighbor who logged for over 20 years in one capacity or another for instruction and purchased a real saw. I'm not sure if my wife is too fond of you guys :).

Well, I can say you are fairly lucky to know a neighbor that used to do logging for a living to help you out with learning this stuff. two thumbs up on PPE. wish I knew the 4900 carb, but I dont really have a clue.

Pull the carb and see if you can get the model #, or find an IPL that should give the carb model #. There are some Mac collectors here who should be able to help you with that. Maybe search McCulloch AND parts AND list? I'd like to help, but I have never had to track down a Mac IPL.

Since neighbors were mentioned, my neighbor who grew up cutting wood in the Arkansas Ozarks is trying to purchase some land, and it will need some clean-up & clearing. Could be a good learning experience.

Duh, me. Acresinternet.com might give you the exact carb model #, maybe the rebuild kit #, and/or have a downloadable IPL.

I already looked on acres site no love there. I was able to identify a few other saws that are very similiar for spare parts.

I am trying to avoid pulling the carb! I guess I need the IPL for this saw.

I will try another search with the above listed.

I have an IPL in my hands with the PN# for the carb :) :) :) .

I can now get all the parts that I want I also now know of several other saws that are the same but with a different marketing name or model number.

This great, I am on the lookout for a parts saw now!
