hey everyone i just join the site, i am a 19 year old college student thats studying to be an RN, 2 months ago a came to the U.S to work for the summer through a program offered at my college. we had areas to choose from such as hotels, bars and etc but i chose tree service only because i didn't wanted to stay confined to one area and tree service was an escape route, i was not enthused about the work in the least. however 2 months into it i have really fell in love with the work! i love the sound of the chainsaws, love the mean look of the bucket truck, the way how it operates, love seeing a tree drop, the epic sound and performance of the chipper, the stomp grinder the whole works lol. so i want to go into the business when i am 28, so first question is it possible to have an RN licence and an tree licence? and even if its possible can i do both at the same time. i am intending to start my own business, so i am planning to work 6 years when i finish college and save up so i can buy the necessary
equipment for the job, so how much would a used bucket truck a chipper, saws roughly cost me? thanks.

Ackeem.

It'll probably be a good match, RN/tree person. That way if your injured or hurt some one while doing trees you can fix them up with out going to the doctors. Any way they have tree doctor's, why not tree nurses?

Just show up for work on time and learn as much as you can. keep going to school and get that RN. You havent been doing tree work long enough to do anything more than day dream about having your business. But thats fine. As far as doing both, sure why not? good luck mon! tree work...no problem!

There is no "tree license" to speak of other than certified arborist and other associated tree care licenses and certificates. I don't have any of them. Anyone with the skill and desire can remove trees. Caring for them is different.

Can you have both liceses? Of course. I have 6 different licenses, all different kinds of work and maintain them as a fall back if ever needed, sort of diversified. Get as many licenses as you can. The longer you wait, the harder it is to get them with all the new regulations and classroom hours.

Learn as much as you can in the field regarding tree removal (and care if you go that route). Field knowledge is far superior to classroom knowledge. Anyone can read a book about it but doing it is completely different.

Thanks for the info! I will learn as much I can on the job.
