Hello there, after reading on the site here for the past couple months and catching the saw bug a bit, I decided that i wanted some spare parts for the 3400 that I have had for 10 years.

So, found another 3400 cheap on ebay and figured I would either use it as a parts, or fix it up. Turns out all it really needed was fuel line, spark plug and some cleaing, so I got it running pretty easily and even opened up the muffler a bit. Problem is that it misses pretty considerably while cutting. runs pretty smooth at WOT but as soon as I start cutting the engine pops and misses intermittantly. Not enough to bog it down, but kind of annoying. It doesn't seem to matter whether it is hot or cold.

So, any ideas? carb kit?, coil? better spark plug ?(have a champion in it now)

Thanks for your time, Mark

Try a Bosch first

Then we will troubleshoot from there. Also check your kill switch wiring and switch....they screw up all the time

Have you tried adjusting the carb? Sometimes popping is caused by a lean condition

Hello, I have adjusted the carb, it's set to the best of my ability, and after reading many posts on here. I will definetely try a bosch plug and see how that does although I haven't had this problem with the champion plug in my other 3400.
