Ok, I've searched the threads and found what I need on muffler mods for my 365. Here is the best pic I've found
attachment_14814.php

I need to know roughly the size of the hole added to the muffler. Also, any tips for a rough starting place for the adjustments on the new carb settings?

I also need to know what all parts are require to convert my 365's to the newer 372 air filter. Do I need anything more than the carb mount, filter and taller top?

Thanks
Steve

Yup, that picture looks just like the mufflers on my two PP372's. That should be about the right size.

Carb settings won't change much with just a muffler mod. I'd make a WAG and say the high end screw will end up somewhere between where it is now and maybe 1/8th of a turn richer. I'm sure you've read the Madsen's page on carb adjustment, it's actuallly much simpler than it sounds.

Can't say for sure on the air filter but what you've posted sounds about right. Here's a website where you can download parts lists and compare.

thanks for the info skwerl, I have not read Madsen's page yet...guess I gotta search again.lol

I found that pic, but need to know what the height and length of that hole, or other similarly sized holes on 365/372's. I don't want to make it too big.

Here's the carb page-

The outlet are of the muffler should be about 90-100% the cylinder exhaust port area. You have excellent visual reference in that pic to guide you. And since chainsaws don't utilize a tuned exhaust, the exact size isn't critical.

his should help...If the first 3 numbers of your saw serial number is higher than 993, you won't need the 503 62 78 71

1-502 20 65 04 air filter screw $1.71
1-502 20 83 02 air filter knob $6.00
1-503 81 77 01 air filter cover $ 20.14
1-503 62 78 71 top cover $23.61
1- AF 371 air filter $11.95
1-503 81 78 01 air horn $6.02

Check with Bailey's to make sure this is exactly what you are loking for,...

Skwerl has it right - and using that photo as a guide should let you size your mod correctly - just follow the scale!

Thanks for the link Skwerl. Thanks for the part #'s pbtree.

Now for a stupid question. On the low and high screws, clockwise should be leaner and counterclockwise to richen it, correct?
