Need some advise. Have been using 1 ton dump truck with a six inch chipper. Recently bought a 12 inch bandit and am now thinking my ton dump is almost useless because of quickness of being filled. Need a real chip truck. Want a diesel and would like to stay under $20,000. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

20k will get you a really nice truck. There were two really nice, large chip trucks on Detroit craigslist a month or so ago. I can't find the ads though.

I think I would go International or Ford ideally, but nothing wrong with GMC too. Ideally, find the biggest motor you can. The t444 internationals are dogs. The DT466 are dogs too, but reliable. 3126 Cats are pretty good, watch out for headgasket issues. The C7 is the updated version and a good motor. 5.9 Cummins are reliable, but slowwww.

Chip truck

I've thought about a forestry package with the bucket, but I'm still young enough where I enjoy climbing, and the thrill of the challlenging trees. I know it's not the most efficient way, but with what I'm doing relative to the money I bring in: I'm happy. My only frutstration is needing a bigger chip truck.
Thanks for the advice about the motors.

I have a DT 466 in my 02 IH 4300, six speed standard. I don't think it's a dog at all.. nobody else seems to either. If you think he's gonna get a 300hp truck for 20k, I think you're mistaken.

We have an 05 4300 bucket at work and it pulls around a morbark 13. It goes fine, but loaded with chips or pulling a hill, it leaves something to be desired. We get passed by just about any other vehicle going up a hill on the freeway. Your just not gonna have much power when the truck has mid 200's for HP.

There were nice chip trucks a month or so back on Detroit craigslist. A kenworth and a pete, both were a little over 20k each. So you can find'em.

This guy hasn't had any luck selling this truck. Would be a sweet set up with a crane and 18"/20" chipper.
