i aint a mechanic so i just need one that will let me check the rpm on these saws. the simpler the better. will swap a good saw for the tach.must read in the high teens .. so if u got one thats not u best
or u not using email me at [email protected].. thanks
ps id prefer one that wraps the wire ,as thats what ive got[only goes to 10.000] ,but whatever ,,long as it works

well is they anybody out there who can count reeeal fast. ill feed u some ham an eggs an such. then we can set all my saws.:)

Tacho

Would a standard cheap aftermarket car speedo work? You can get digital ones as kits from electronic and hobby stores which would be pretty accurate, you would just have to multiply the rpm by the cylinder number the tach is set to (maybe a single cyl motorbike tach?)

im not familar with the tach u mentioned. woodsjunkie has offered to help me out some on this. im still gonna look for one that will go to 20.000 rpm.
mite see if the kids want to go togather and get me one . now how to go about
droping the hint :) i know ill show them erics,, an say ,,get this. :p

Tony,
Steve here... I have seen the Stihl tachs on Ebay from time to time. The one I saw early this week was $40 or $50 US. I paid $185 for my Echo tach, no need to spend that, the extra bells and whistles I don't even use. The cheap tachs I have tryed wig out after 5000 to 7000rpm depending on the model.

hi tony
just get the stihl tach
it is all you need plus just make a holder for the tach that holds on to your handle bar then you can see what rpm's your saw is holding in the wood

that is exactly what i found when setting up all my saws yesterday. i like the stihl tach. with the one i lost on ebay id have had to have my wife or somebody hold it [the tach] while i put the saw to the wood .. thanks

the one i got has a wire on it that goes to the sparkplug
i have run saws by just holding it in my hand with the handlebar but you can make yourself one to hold it easy then just watch your rpm's you will see what way your saw is the fastest quite easy

if you donot have one just see how much they are there an i will see here i think they will be cheaper here

sorry for not closing this out.. got one from a member here,as a gift ,,wonder who.
he dont like me to mention his name..
so i wont mention it,, eric..:D
