Seth you're going to have one nice saw there. Beautiful looking work there KD!!

btw, I understand this is a race saw, but running it even for the few seconds without a filter (as I assume one does) - does this lead to intake side scoring due to woodchips inadvertently being ingested? and to what level?

KD in action

Heres a photo of the 088 in action, This cut was a .72 second cut in a 8 by 8 pine cant. also with the muffler . it will cut faster with the pipe and broken in.

Hotsaw Air Filter

Hello tundraotto,
most of the fellows dont run a filter at the races, its okay if the logs are fresh, but I use a green weenie air filter on my saws at home because the wood is dry and dusty.

Hummm Ken that little red handle looks offly nice on that stihl. Kinda looks like the one on my 3120's . Just let me know if you need more I know were to pick them up. I can get them in red, yellow, black. Don't know any other colors yet. But they are designed tough. Just try to brake one.

Chris

hotsaw handle

Hello Chris,
Those handles are the best. there's nothing worse than having the stock handle slip thru you're hand on the cold start. I'll have to get a few more from you. later'

Ken,
On the saw questions what is the best way to clean the filings out of the jug when I'm done playing? Alls I half to do is dress the edges and port the muffler :) and I'm done. Kinda

Thanks,
Chris

washing out a barrel

Hello Chris(stihl 036),
When I port a barrel I blow all the debris out and then take it inside and make the wife very unhappy because I put the barrel in a pan with very hot water and soap and scrub it until no more dirt is transfered to your cleaning rag. then its clean and ready to assemble. Boy, your burning the midnight oil chris. Gretchen has probably given up on you and gone to bed, These chainsaw motors are fun to work on

Master Ken
I dont use a pan, when I clean up my barrels.I just blow them out and put them in the dish washer, you could eat off of them when they are done.I never had a whole load at one time but I have done 4 at once.I was taught by the best, you and Red Green.LOL
The wife is never very impressed with me when I do that one.I needed some dry red oak one time, wife wanted a picture frame made yesterday. All that I had was some green lumber.I came up with a brain storm, use the Microwave.I ripped some small pieces, stripped them with white pine and heated them for about 1 minute.Didn't see anything happening so I hit the timer for about 3 more minutes. That helped out a lot.My oak now had the shape of a pretzel, the bad part was that I cooked the pitch out of the pine and was all over the bottom of the oven.I had one heck of a time cleaning that off before the wife came home.

Dozerdan, saw gas works real nice of removing pitch out of microwaves.

Another nice looking saw Ken, I guess the 3120 is on its way so I will send the 088 also. Have your way with both.

Looks real nice as usual, Ken. Pictures came out good too. Next time you have pictures taken of you demoing a new saw, perhaps you could wear chaps and a tie.

WOW!!!
Steve here... Ken,
Seth's saw looks awesome... Can't wait to see it with a pipe.
I got to figure out where I'm gunna hide an NOS bottle. What da
think Ken, put a pipe on mine and spray it!!! Looks great Seth
Steve
ps Hey Joe when you going to send that 066 to Ken? Just remember, the faster it cuts the sooner you can set it down.

Seth,

Thats one sweet looking saw you got there :D Have you tried it out yet or does Ken still have his hands on it ;)

Later Rob..

Rob
Thanks,I see today is you birthday finally legal to buy beer(Happy B-day). Ken still has my saw , finishing the expansion chamber. Ken does great work and has taught me a lot far as saw tuning and square filing chain. One of the most important things Ken taught me is patience. Seth
It's like what the young bull said to the older bull.
young bull=Lets run down the hill and screw a heifer.
older bull=Let walk down the hill and screw'em all.
