What is up w/ the new pulley sherrill is selling, you have to actually feed the line through it. What the heck?? shouldn't you be able to put it on mid line? What makes the advanced? why is it almost 30 bucks?

JPS it is the only 30 dollar micro pulley in their catalog.
This is what Sean said when I asked:
"The benefit of the new micro pulley is how the carabiner clips into it. With the older pulley, the carabiner is perpendicular to the sheave, but with the new one, it is parallel. This was something we had a number of climbers ask for, because they were using advanced friction hitches."
But I like my VT with a regular pulley all on one biner.
I dunno, it might help someone but they will get my money in other ways (1.4k last week
but well spent, IMO).

The "advanced" part of the name refers to the hitch, not the pulley. It is a pulley designed to be used with advanced hitches. One of the most practical uses for the pulley would be with the Glide saddle, or any other saddle featuring a sliding bridge.

rborist, wouldn't the second biner just clip to the first?

I have done that before.
To make that safe, IMO, the end of the rope is spliced, with a steel auto lock (of your choice). Then your hitch would go on the far side of the spliced eye (or could it be on top of it?) away from the spine*.
*(Just makes sense to me, the end always has more tension than the hitch side due to friction, exspecially if you are using natural crotches, probably anal, but who cares?)
