Looks like Bandit has a new breed of smaller stump grinder. Take a look:

Bandit Model 2250XP Brings Beltless Hydrostatic Drive to Small Stump Grinders - Bandit Industries, Inc.

Definitely a new concept in this segment. Will be interesting to take a look at it. I'm already dreaming of upgrading the 27hp engine to a 35-40hp, though I don't know how much difference that makes in a hydraulic machine of this size/type. Wonder what the pricing is? Only weighs 1500 lbs., but has 50" swing and 14" depth, nice. Time will tell.....anybody seen one?

I think this machine will be gutless and very weak in cutting power. I am not an engineer, but from what I know, the hydraulic pumps are going to rob a lot of the useable horsepower from the cutter wheel. A belt-drive system actually transfers more HP to the cutter wheel than a hydraulic drive does, given the same engine HP.
I know from experience that my 60HP Carlton 7015 will outperform the Bandit 2900, 80HP machine. The Bandit has a hydraulic drive wheel, and the Carlton has a belt-drive wheel. No comparison in cutting capabilities. The Carlton wins hands down, with 20 less horsepower I think this will be a big disappointment to people who actually try it on some hard stumps.
