What's this "Girl's Playhouse" bit all about? sounds interesting..

Not sure I'd wanna have my truck towed by a wrecker with that on it though! At least it's not lettered yet! lmao.

sorry..

Not sure about the "Girl's Playhouse" deal. When Eric and I saw that ( no offense ladies ) we were like "Oh grrreeeaat, now we gotta deal with some chick trying to prove she's like the guys." Ended up bein' a dude who was pretty cool, and damn good at his job.

I here you on the lettering deal. Something like this, a hundred miles from home is much more laughable than a truck taking a #### in a big client's driveway.

down time

the only thing worse than seeing one of your trucks being towed, I've had it happen over the years. Is pulling up to a job site and the tree crew is circling around the chipper with fire extinguishers! It's the price you pay for putting in the wrong size fuse.

Is that a Schmidy's Machinery special?

No, it's a one owner jobby from down state PA. Never did the line crew route, but it sat for a year before today. I figured on some bugs needing worked out but took a gamble that I could get it home and to a shop I trusted before anything went. Turns out I was wrong. Probably just a fuel pump but that $340 towing bill off the turnpike stings a bit.

Ya got a truck huh Blakes, well good for you. Hope you get some good use out of it and it pays the bills for ya.

I thought about a bucket this year, but picked up a Wraptor instead. That little SOB is paying the bills, took a free ride 7 times today, cutting on the way up and working my way back down.

Try having your chipper throw a red hot bearing chunk into your plywood chip box and start the load and box on fire. Or when your 15 minutes in on the biggest job of the year, and the disk is trying to escape from the chipper cuz the shaft just snapped.

Thanks, Nails. We finally got our debris moving and hauling up to par so the next logical step was upping our aerial game. Hopefully I can get it home and making money in short order. A Wraptor will be in my stable before long as well. I'm kinda surprised you were even considering a bucket. Thought you hated those things.

I know a company that ceased the cutterwheel on a brand new 250 within like the first month. I guess everybody thought that someone else had greased it.

God dang! Some people just dont get that grease is your friend. Any grease is better than no grease. Try Mobil XHP222 or 222 special with a lil moly. You dont want too much moly in chipper bearings cuz it'll cake em with fine dust. same with the stumper. My buddies 1250, he ran bad bearing a lil too long and it wore the shaft down. He tried to save a buck and had a machinist weld up and re-mill the old one. Turned out to be a big mistake cuz it was heat treated or something, and didnt like being welded on. Had maybe a hundo hours b4 it snapped and took the new bearings with it. Some people have all the ideas. Personally I dont like too mess with that kinda thing. Do it right, and you only do it once. One of my many mottos. Hey blakes, you want me to come show you how to fly that stick? I got probly a thousand hrs in that model. Is it a 60' footer?

While we're on the subject of buckets and grease etc., what would you recommend for the cables and chains on my LRIII. It's desperately in need of something. When I bought it, the one guy told me to use penetrating chain and cable lube, in the spray can, like you would get at a motorcycle shop. Says it actually can displace moisture since it penetrates. So that's what I've been doing. I was always used to brushing grease on the cables with the old skyworker we had at one place I worked though. If memory serves me correctly, the ALC lifts get white lithium grease brushed on. This guy said brushing the grease on mine could actually help trap moisture in the cables. Just curious if anybody has any thoughts on this and what they use.

Hey Chris, that truck got the pistol grip controls?

Yup, pistol grip style which will be new for me. Only ever flew ALC's with the three prongs. Pistol seems to make a lot more sense operation-wise, but there is a lot more little parts to go wrong in there.

Prentice, look me up if you're ever in upstate NY, I won't mind drinking beers in a lawn chair while you make me money. lol

I've always used penetrating oil for the same reasons.

I know that you DO NOT want to use WD40. It acts as an abraisive in that application, at least thats what the owner of Midwest Aerial told me. I never liked the white gease for that cuz of all the crap will stick to it. Forein debris sticking to a cable? Sounds like more wear to me.

If I'm there, you wont have time to be sitting in a lawn chair. Unless you have a few good grunts, or some kinda toy for me to clean up my mess with. Oh, and dont wrench on that pistol grip too hard. The junkie at the co I used to work for did that and bent the pins inside. After that, turned fine one way, slow the other. Same with the up, down. I hate waiting for a slow boom. Almost makes me want to saddle up, almost........
