When do you know that it is time for a new clutch. My 2100 husky the chain grabs the wood and sticks if I put any pressure on it. The depth gage is not set aggressive. Cuts fine just should have enough power to pull a 20" full comp RM3 stihl chain.

Is it bogging the motor down when it sticks? The old clutch on my 066 was grooved and looked like h-e-doubletoothpicks, but still worked fine. It would bog the motor down like nobody's business. I only swapped because I used the saw almost exclusively for milling, which is high stress.

Look it over, inspect the springs, the clutch surface itself, may just have to clean oil out of it. Open it up and describe what you find.

It sounds like the "hook" angle on the cutters of your chain is set too steep. This will make a chain grab and stop.

Motor pulls along no dip in rpm when it catches. I'll try and pull it a part to night and look. I try to free hand file and i do put some hook on them but i tried the same chain on the 455 husky and it pulls it.

I look at the 2100's clutch and compared that with the new 455 clutch and it is definitely used up so do I need to get the whole clutch, or parts to rebuild it?
