Hi All,
I went into a hardware store today to get a new helmet for my groundie - turns out this chap is going to be stocking Dolmar chainsaws - New to Bermuda!!

Its a nice place, small and locally owned, but he doesn't know what to pick from the Dolmar range, so I told him I'd find out from you Dolmar experts which models would be the most sensible for him to stock. SO fire away!

Customer base would typically be:
1. homeowners needing a saw for hurricane cleanup
2. general maintenance landscapers who need a cleanup / felling saw
3. maybe me if the price is right!!!

I don't see him having a huge demand, I reckon he should stock two maybe three models 45 - 60 cc max 18" bars. He could always special order if someone wanted something bigger.
The STIHL dealer is virtually across the street, (the one I'm always on about waaay overpricing his saws) so the new guy needs a good basic range of reliable models that wear well.

He will also be stocking chaps, helmets and spare parts & chains.
I'll print off everything that comes in and give it to him - or get him to read the thread.

Thanks a bunch!!!

Arrr!

I agree. Also the MS-22C is a good trimmer, LT210 is very sweet and lightweight. Cannot go wrong with the PB250.4 handheld blower. Pretty much all the saws except: 73-7900, 9010, none of the BIG trimmers.

How big are the biggest trees in Bermuda?

What does the Stihl dealer stock?

If I were him, I would start by stocking saws that are in direct competition with the Stihl's.

The biggest trees are 60-80' casuarinas, 24 -36" dbh or bigger. That's not so much the issue as it is very unlikely the customers I indicated would be tackling anything that big. That's when my phone rings!

The Stihl dealer stocks everything from 192t on up to MS880. The 192t and 200t's sell very well as people love them because 'they are light and can be used with one hand' !!! I'd say the next most popular would be the MS250 - 260 - 290 - 361.

Thanks so far!!
